So here is the finished unpressed block (you can kind of get the idea):
I decided to lay out the pieces I finished to try to get an idea of what the top might look like... but without the top and bottom borders on each block it is difficult to imagine:
I am thinking about using a smaller sashing around each block... maybe this grey:
But... until I get a new iron (immediately after work today) my project will stay at a stand still:

I have a stack waiting to do this with! Are you heavy starching or using a stabilizer? Not sure what to do.
ReplyDeleteI am not startching or using a stabilizer... Normally I just steam them to death... but I need a new iron to go on... I have never tried startching or a stabilizer.
ReplyDeleteThere was a post on Lilblueboo on April 24 on doing this. She used heavy starch - I'm on my iPhone or I'd copy the link. It may not be necessary, just might help with keeping the stretch of the shirts lie flat. I was thinking of using a light stabilizer but maybe I'll just starch em! There's a recipe for homemade starch I want to try in Amanda jean's book! :)
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense... some of the shirts are so old and soft they slip quite a bit. Maybe I should try starch :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great T-shirt quilt design...I did one for my daughter years ago but I just used big T shirt blocks and narrow sashing-this looks like a real quilt!
ReplyDeletelol! My son's name is Eli too. He would have like a T shirt quilt but after 5 years and never doing it-I tossed the T-shirt bag. Bad Mom!
I look forward to seeing this one finished.
